Coastal Living - with Mini Moderns...

Updated: Oct 16, 2019

If you've been lucky enough to have spent a summer holiday by the coast, this mood board may bring back some of those precious memories and give you some ideas of how to bring that summer feeling into your home. The colours I have chosen are limited to blues, soft greys and bleached white to create a simple style. It's far from boring though, as you can add pattern in the form of stripes on soft furnishings, a quirky wallpaper ( this one is by Mini Moderns ) or some stunning dinnerware ( Jersey Pottery ). The sideboard and sofa are by Loaf - I love that pale blue fabric with the tasselled throw on top adding texture. An occasional darker blue item of furniture brings a "pop" of colour and anchors the look. Plain wood is also important as it adds warmth to these cool colours. So, if you love this style and want to try it in your home here are the basics... A limited colour palette of light blue, grey and bleached white. Layers of texture with throws, soft furnishings and natural weaves - like the lights. Not too much clutter or heavy furniture - your room will look lighter if you are able to see under the furniture. Finally, add some personal touches with any of your "holiday finds" like pebbles from a beach, shells or a piece of driftwood. Above all, keep it simple and you will create a relaxing space that is an escape from our busy lives...
